Water Table Makeover

When we were visiting my grandparents earlier this year, my grandma said she wanted to get a water table for the girls to have when they visited. We started the hunt online and everything was just so.. cheesy. The colors were loud and everything seemed too babyish for my girls.

We decided to just snag one from Goodwill, because neither of us could bear spending full price on something I didn’t love.

We ended up bringing it home when my grandparents moved, and I had an idea. I loved the girls Minni Dip pool- what if we could make the water table match?!

I scrubbed it down, took it apart completely, and bought my paint. The larger pieces I spray painted, while the rainbows and other small details I used acrylics. The key to preventing chipping and holding up to wear and tear, was definitely the clear coat spray sealer at the end. I also made sure the main area that holds water, I left the natural color. I’m sure over time that section would start to chip from extended soaking.

To personalize it even more, I added the girls’ initials over the brand’s logo.

Now that summer is almost over, the water table has held up really well! It does have a few chips from where something got stuck on it, but it was an easy fix! What do you think? Would you ever try this?!

happy crafting!

THE BEST Disney Instagram wall spots.

and shown by the cutest Disney baby around!

When Juniper was eight months old, I had this crazy idea. I loved the photos trending on Pinterest of parents holding up their babies in front of a beautiful background. Mixing that with my love for Disney, and the talent of the amazing Grace Oliver Photography, a LONG day at all four Disney parks with a duffle bag of clothes was born! Juniper was the happiest baby, and because she couldn’t walk yet, it was the most perfect time to do it. We were sweating by the end of the day and my arms were completely numb, but these pictures were worth every moment of magic!

ANIMAL KINGDOM

ANIMAL KINGDOM – You are most beautiful wall: This wall is located in Africa, in the Harambe market. Enter the market’s food court, and look down the corridor on the left after the Greatest Sausages food counter!

ANIMAL KINGDOM- The Lion King Sunset Wall: After entering the park, make a left at the Tree of Life, and continue straight. You will see this wall on your left near Tiffins and the Nomad Lounge.

ANIMAL KINGDOM- Moss Wall: This wall is located in Pandora- the World of Avatar, around the Satu’li Canteen.

EPCOT- The Bubblegum Wall: Stepping out the doors of Spaceship Earth, this is the wall the exit doors are actually on, going both directions.

EPCOT- The Blueberry Wall: When you exit Spaceship Earth again, takes a few steps out the doors and turn around! This wall is right in-between the Bubblegum wall!

EPCOT- Toothpaste Wall: This is now the wall of the Coral Reef Restaurant, right before the entrance to The Seas with Nemo & Friends!

MAGIC KINGDOM

MAGIC KINGDOM- The Confectionery Wall: On the front, right corner of Main Street USA is the sweetest confectionery! All of the walls have this wallpaper design, but near the exit door is a big enough area to take photos! *THE CONFECTIONERY IS CURRENTLY CLOSED AND BLOCKED OFF FOR REFURBISHMENT*

MAGIC KINGDOM- The Galactic Purple wall/ The Purple Wall: This might be one of my favorite walls because the lighting is always PERFECT! It is located in between Tomorrowland and the Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant.

MAGIC KINGDOM- Buzz Blue wall: When you exit the Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin ride, turn right around the building. They just recently repainted, and the fresh blue paint is such a great backdrop!

MAGIC KINGDOM- Carousel of Progress Wall: This is just the whole outside of the Carousel of Progress ride in Tomorrowland. It does rotate at times, but the lines never long, so there is always plenty of space to snag a photo.

MAGIC KINGDOM- Star Traders Wall: This teal is such a fun pop of color, located on the Star Traders shop in Tomorrowland, right next to the Space Ranger spin stroller parking area!

MAGIC KINGDOM- The Dumbo wall: This wall is so much fun! In between the two sides of the Dumbo ride is a stationary Dumbo seat you can take pictures in. Behind it is this beautiful circus backdrop, painted like a vintage big top.

MAGIC KINGDOM- The Peter Pan Wall: Towards the end of the line of Peter Pan’s Flight is the wall that looks like the map of Neverland. It will be blocked if the line is too long, so make sure you check it out first thing in the morning to catch it open!

MAGIC KINGDOM- Tangled Restrooms Wall: The most beautiful bathroom there ever was! This mural is painted inside the restroom tucked back in the stroller parking area for the It’s a Small World ride. The mural continues on the outside of the restroom as well, but I just loved the ambiance from right inside more!

HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS

HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS- The Jack-Jack Wall: As you enter the corridor that takes you towards Toy Story Land, you will see the Incredibles area straight ahead. This sweet Jack-Jack wall is on the left hand side, before the entrance to the old character spot building.

HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS- Incredibles Explosion Wall: This wall is so fun! It’s the perfect backdrop for any cute pose centered in the middle! Again, this is in the Incredibles area, but on the right hand side.

HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS- The Incredibles Wall: This one is right next to the wall I shared above, and it is amazing! The mural is rather long, with all kinds of details, that you really can take multiple pictures here and get totally different looks. This purple target is definitely my favorite part.

HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS- The Checkerboard Wall: As you walk off of the Toy Story Mania ride, you will walk right past this red and black, Checkerboard themed wall. The sun is usually pretty harsh on it, so you’ll want to stop by first thing in the morning or during sunset for that perfect lighting.

HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS- The Popsicle Wall: There are actually multiple locations for this wall, one being directly across from the Checkerboard Wall on the exit of Toy Story Mania. The other two are located to the left and right as you leave Toy Story Land and enter Galaxy’s Edge.

HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS- The Muppet Wall: Okay, to be honest, I can’t even really explain how to get to this one anymore, because it was blocked off at the time (we had permission from a cast member!) but if the barricades are down, it is in Grand Avenue, which is the Muppet themed area to the left before you enter Galaxy’s Edge.

HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS- The Galaxy’s Edge Wall: First of all, EVERYWHERE in Galaxy’s Edge is Instagrammable! Literally you could turn anywhere into a wall, the theming is just incredible. But this one is such a massive statement, it makes a perfect backdrop, without looking too busy. This wall is on the left, right before the entrance to the market area.

have a magical day!

a very MAGICAL haircut.

When Berkley turned three, I took her to get her first haircut at Magic Kingdom! I know, I know, I waited way longer than most. But she had just the sweetest curls, that I was so afraid they would be gone for good after cutting them off!

Disney, magic kingdom secrets, first haircut, Harmony Barber Shop

But she finally needed it. Her unruly (dare I say poor mullet) needed some structure. And what better place than our home-away-from-home?

Disney, Magic Kingdom, first haircut, Harmony Barber Shop

For those of you who didn’t know about this little Disneyworld secret, to the left on Main Street as you enter Magic Kingdom, is this cutesy little vintage barber shop called Harmony Barber Shop. They do haircuts for men, women, children, all ages- but the most magical is the first haircut package. It comes with an embroidered “My 1st haircut” Mickey ear hat, a certificate of Bravery from Mickey and Minnie, and a sweet little mesh pouch with those first locks inside.

They let the babies/kids choose a toy, and put Mickey stickers all over them. The cast members are so kind and gentle, that they’ll stop if they need to, and spend the time making the little ones feel better before they continue. They also have “Pixie dust” for their hair after they are all finished.

I am totally that mom that loves over-celebrating firsts and milestones, and because Disney has created so many special memories for us, it couldn’t have been more perfect. Or should I say, magical.

Her shoes linked here and sweet dress found here!

To schedule and appointment at Harmony Barber Shop, call (407) 939-7529. You can reserve your spot up to 180 beforehand, but they do take walk-ins too. In fact, we got to the park first thing that morning, and booked an appointment for 12:30pm that day. The price is only $25, which is extremely reasonable given everything that is included.

Thank you, Disney for always adding that special something to our special moments!

The big Disney name reveal.

Disney has held so many magical memories for us. My husband proposed at Epcot, (on his birthday!) and it became a place dear to our hearts every moment after. So when I was pregnant with my second baby, I wanted to announce her name in a special way, at our special place!

Sweet baby JUNIPER WYLDE!

It was like a dream to me. I knew long before I was pregnant that if we had another girl, her name would be Juniper. Billy wasn’t totally on board at first, but it grew on him and stuck as my belly grew too. And where did Wylde come from? Well, we took a babymoon to Hawaii (see post here) and let me tell you- it was WILD! I hiked down into waterfalls and overcame more adventurous hurdles than I ever thought I would do, even without being pregnant. So, “wild” transformed to “Wylde” which flowed pretty perfectly with Juniper. And let me tell you, she has lived up to that middle name every moment since!

Grace Oliver Photography worked her magic as always shooting these photos! And I’ve linked everything else below:

I always love hearing the history of names and why families chose them! Comment below and tell me yours!

twinkle twinkle little star.

twinkle twinkle little star, do you know how loved you are?

BERKLEY GRACE. how on earth was this 5 years ago?! it doesn’t even seem possible. I feel like that first year I fully soaked in every moment slowly, while it flew by all at once.

I started planning this party literally right after she was born. I know I’m crazy. but I’ve never wanted the world to be so perfect until her. it’s like, she was born and -BOOM- instant give her the best possible. so thinking about her party, I was excited to perfect ever last detail.

I’ve always loved stars. they remind me of twinkling dreams, and there’s just something so delicate and grand about that, all wrapped into one. so when brainstorming first birthday ideas for Berkley, this was just too perfect. she was my dream on my own shooting star.

this little star banner was so easy to make. I cut the stars out with a shape punch, and then just sewed them together at random on my sewing machine!

we always order our cakes from nothing bundt cakes. this is the 8in and 10in stacked, with the drizzle frosting. I not only love the look of these, but the flavors are AMAZING. you can simply add flowers or toppers and create such a sweet and simple, beautiful cake.

I remember I was so behind on my judgement of timing for this party. I thought I would have enough time, but I barely got the balloons in place before people started arriving, and didn’t get a chance to do anything to my hair. I just whipped it up in a few bobby pins and called it a day!

one of my favorite details was what we set up on the table on the back porch. on a chalkboard sign, I wrote the coordinates of the star we bought, and named in honor of Berkley. then we had cards laid out that said “wishes for baby”, and everyone that attended filled out the lines listed. it was such a precious way to dream for her, and I can’t wait to share it with her when she’s older.

the high chair we bought from a local antique shop, and the backdrop Billy built out of old pallets. I just added curtains and a banner. My OCD wanted the smash cake pictures to be more grounded with a backdrop, and I didn’t want it to be the house.

but that little finger lick of icing was all she ate of her cake. she was not into the feeling of food on her hands at all, which is just totally her personality, even today.

the food was super simple, finger foods, and I just ordered those little squared cups for cheerios and goldfish for the little ones. they were the perfect size for them to hold and carry around.

My shining star! we love you more than you could ever imagine.

TWO to flamingle.

stand tall darling.

two year’s old?! one to two seems like such a huge jump in age, I just can’t believe how fast time seems to be passing by. literally at year one, she had just learned how to walk. now she’s walking, talking, and potty-trained, and has OPINIONS. somebody pinch me.

for Berkley’s second birthday, I couldn’t resist a flamingo theme! she has such a fun, bright, bold personality, and the pink is perfect for her girly spirit. at the time, it wasn’t an actual party theme really, or at least not popular, and I couldn’t find ANYTHING in flamingo print. I mixed pineapples into it, which I ended up loving because it added so much color.

her party hat we get every year and customize it from little blue olive!
looking back I wish I would have gotten the same flavor for both of the cakes. I don’t like how they are two different colors and just not cohesive. but Nothing Bundt Cakes will always be our cake go-to!

I can’t even explain how much I love throwing parties. I seriously start planning and creating months in advance. for this one, I made all of the banners by hand, or with my Cricut machine.

the shelf and bench above, Billy and I built as when we moved in to our home. we needed a solution to keep our most worn shoes downstairs, so we built that little area with baskets under the bench to store our shoes. it has now become my favorite little spot to decorate for every holiday.

oh, and how amazing is my hubs?! these are real pineapples that he so perfectly cut the center out to create my vase vision!

number 2 cake topper is from hobby lobby // adorable flamingo topper is lulaflora
caught red handed, eating the food before the party starts!
that blonde hair! those lips! gosh I just adore her.

out back, I set up a few games for the kiddos. I bought yard flamingos and created a ring toss with them. we also had hula hoops, chalk, a couple other basic backyard toys, and then a giant flamingo pool filled with pink flamingo rubber ducks.

the easel above is from ikea! one side is a chalkboard and the other is dry erase. we actually only use it for parties, and I love that it has a shelf to add decorations to it too.

I always try to plan out where the main photos will be, and create a backdrop. this new pallet wall actually came from a retail store’s old visual display. It’s much better than the one we used the previous year, and actually sits against the house. It’s crazy to look back at these pictures and see it before I planted the climbing jasmine. Now it’s so full of beautiful flowers, its truly grown with our family!

in our home we don’t have actual cups, we use mason jars. so for parties, I try to make a fun kid option, such as these sweet pineapples. I ordered them from oriental trading company, and they doubled as the party favors for the kids!

we love you, our sweet girl. you were born to stand out!
